Supporting you through your journey …
Fertility Reflexology
I wish to support couples who are trying to conceive whether naturally or with allopathic treatments such as IVF.
The main aims of treatments to assist natural conception are to balance hormones, release tension in the pelvic area and reduce stress. Thus promoting deep relaxation and comfort during an emotional time. I can also tailor the treatment to address specific ailments such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Endometriosis & Fibroids.
Assisted conception through allopathic treatments:
Clomid & IUI
I am able to offer Reflexology for relaxation and hormone balancing,
IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation)
If you are happy to have Reflexology it can be effect for relaxation, detoxification & stress relief.
(During the Priming Injection I can not offer you a treatment).
Why try Fertility Reflexology?
Fertility Reflexology is a calm, relaxing holistic therapy that may help to ease any emotional or physical stress surrounding your fertility. Fertility reflexology can not claim to cure fertility problems but conception is a complex matter of health and well-being and needs a number of things for both the mother and father to be ready and balanced in order to be successful.
Regular treatments may help you rebalance and get yourself in optimum condition for conceiving. It is essential to balance the bodies hormones and shift cycle irregularities to create the right conditions to encourage ovulation and conception. Fertility Reflexology may also help you feel less stressed about procedures such as IVF and ICSI.
Anxiety can become all encompassing and this may also affect your ability to conceive. The longer the situation carries on, the more desperate the person becomes, the greater the stress and the inability to conceive can then be triggered. Reflexology may help quieten the mind and improve your sense of well-being.
An increasing number of women believe that fertility reflexology has helped them conceive and many Gynaecologists and IVF clinics are now suggesting it before fertility drugs or in conjunction with infertility treatment.
Can I have Fertility Reflexology if I am undergoing fertility treatment?
Yes, many of my clients are undertaking assisted cycles, the treatment will be adapted to work alongside your drug protocol, frozen embryo or donor cycle, although is always good to check with your clinic first. However, it is recommended that after embryo transfer you postpone further reflexology treatments until you are 12+ weeks pregnant.
Pregnancy Reflexology
What is Pregnancy Reflexology?
Pregnancy Reflexology treatments are the ideal opportunity for pregnant women to enjoy feeling pampered and relaxed. They may also help to balance your hormones, boost your energy and help your body to be healthy and as comfortable as possible. They can also be used to help encourage labour if you are overdue. Many midwives will recommend reflexology to you as part of your maternity programme.
Treatments may also help the following common pregnancy symptoms:
Elle MacPherson, Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow all followed and endorsed a maternity care program of which the main focus was reflexology.
Pregnancy Reflexology may reduce your labour time
In 1988, Dr. Gowri Motha and Dr. Jane McGrath carried out a study into the effects of reflexology on labour. 37 pregnant women completed a course of ten treatments.
Findings showed that women who received regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy are more likely to have a shorter labour, require less pain relief and give birth closer to their EDD.
The average first stage of labour was 5 hours (compared to textbook figures of 16 to 24 hours) and 16 minute 2nd stage (compared to 1 to 2 hours).
Pregnancy Reflexology for priming labour
Pregnancy Reflexology can be used to encourage labour in a post term pregnancy. Specific reflex points are stimulated with the intention of creating a boost of energy to encourage the onset of labour contractions. Many women who are post-term and have no problems and respond well.
A midwife team undertook a study into 100 overdue women who were offered a free reflexology treatment on their feet. The results of the study showed that overall, the length of the first stage of labour was four hours shorter and the second stage of labour (when the woman starts to push) was 21 minutes shorter, than of those women who had not received the reflexology treatment.
When shouldn’t a treatment be given?
It is not advisable to have treatment if you are in the first trimester (13 weeks) of pregnancy, you have a high fever or an infectious disease, suffer from Deep Vein Thrombosis, or varicose veins around your feet, or you have gangrene. It is advisable to let me know about any medical condition you have during our consultation so I can adapt your treatment if necessary.
